This workout is amazing and Ryan is THE BEST trainer I have ever met. No yelling, no shame or embarrassment, no “hey you slacker push it harder!!!” annoying attitude; just supportive, educated, and well-intentioned advice and motivation. He is unlike any other fitness instructor/athlete I have ever met. Under his instruction, you will NEVER feel like you can’t do anything nor be worried about what others are thinking of you. And let’s face it, many of us have felt this way with other workouts. The beauty of kettlebells combined with Ryan’s instruction is that it doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing, you do what is best for you. And isn’t that what working out is all about: making YOU feel better, inside and out!
With Ryan’s workouts and his nutritional tips and programs, I have lost 51 pounds, and more comes off every week. But its not just about the weight (although a major factor!), my body is shaping up, my muscles are getting toned, and my endurance is unbelievable. Ryan has helped me throughout this journey, focusing on overall health, so that this weight loss is more than just pounds off, its a lifestyle change. I enjoy reading and discussing articles and books he shares; he’s always up for discussing health practices and philosophies.
This workout is for everyone. When you walk into Ryan’s classes, you see all kinds of people with many different goals. Different sizes and shapes as well, yet one thing in common: determination. I walked into my first class having done basically nothing physical, and just slowly worked my way through the program. Again, Ryan’s style of gentle corrections and genuine support helps you be the best you can be. As you get to know the other members, you find yourself in a great community of people having fun, sharing stories, and loving every minute of their workout. Really.
I don’t normally write too many reviews, but I believe in Ryan and the kettlebell workout so much that I’d continue to rave well past my character limit! The results don’t lie, the mirror doesn’t lie, and your body won’t lie either. Hands down, I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in, and the fun part is, I’m still working on the journey and I’m excited about it. So, this woman has finally found a program that she won’t be quitting.

Ryan makes kettlebells — something that initially sounds strange and foreign — accessible to everyone. When my husband, Julius, began training I thought kettlebells were just the latest workout fad, and I definitely thought it was a “guy thing”.
But when, within months, Julius trimmed down and muscled up I decided I better go in and try kettlebells for myself! I have been SO happy with the training I’ve received from Ryan, who is knowledgeable, friendly and never condescending like some personal trainers I’ve seen in the past.
Training with kettlebells does not make me some remarkable athlete that trains in some elite sport… I’m just an average gal who, with kettlebell training, has achieved above-average levels of strength and fitness that would not have otherwise occurred without Ryan’s help.

So I spent a lot of time at the weight room lifting machines. I ran outside. I went to a personal trainer. I did a lot of circuit training and boot camps. No Pain, No Gain. After 2 years, I was stronger, thinner, managed a lap on the monkey bars, but my knees were worn out and I had shoulder injuries from overuse. As a result, I hurt too much to be the better “Mom Role Model” that I wanted to be.
I began training at TNT Performance in March 2013.
Honest initial thoughts: People walking around and swinging kettlebells… does not look intense like a cool boot camp! I asked myself, how would that be effective? Where is the intensity? Why don’t people yell at you to go harder, farther, and to do just one more rep?
What I have since learned:
Gym: The atmosphere is welcoming and encouraging. The gym culture is “focused on individual strength/capabilities and mobility”, yet you have fun energy surrounding you. Each class has a purpose and allows you to build your skills at the right pace.
Philosophy: Have a performance goal in mind and train – don’t just “get in shape.” The idea of coming to the gym to experience “No Pain, No Gain” and to walk out of the gym feeling like an old lady because you never quit is… silly. It is so much more fulfilling to have a purpose and then to reach goals you never would have thought you could do. If you are short of coming up with goals on your own, Coach Ryan is there to inspire. The goals don’t only have to focus on what is done at the gym, but anything that helps you move and enjoy other activities.
Nutrition: What you fuel your body with matters. The TNT Nutrition Ten Commandments can refocus even the folks that think they eat healthy. I have lost weight and gained leaner muscle because I have made a small change here and there. When I don’t feel right, Ryan will ask, “What are you eating?” The advice I have followed has led to better results. The available AdvoCare products have also helped sustain my energy and improve recovery times.
Performance is PROOF: As many women are, we lack upper body strength. I have a long history of being successful as an “athlete”, but never did I consider myself strong. I came to TNT with a 15-lb max (military/vertical) press. Today I can press 18 kg (39.7 lbs). Gym PRs are nice, but what matters most for me? I can play tag (and I am fast!), confidently do the monkey bars with my kids, lift my bike over logs (or my head when showing off) easily when mountain biking, refill the propane tank without my hubby’s help, keep up with friends while biking (even though I don’t have the time to ride daily), stand taller, be stronger, and continue to be a healthy role model for my children.
The biggest lesson I have learned at TNT is patience. We are here to build the body, not break it down.

Without being redundant and agreeing with the other posts — to sum it all up I really love and appreciate Ryan’s kettlebell training philosophy: FUN, EFFECTIVE, and SIMPLE! I feel that it has been the change in my workout routine that has really made an impact on my athletic performance, as well as total wellness.
For example — I have been a cross-country skate skier for about 6 years. I have done the American Birkebeiner 50K skate ski five times. This year I was really dreading it because we had very little opportunity to train due to very little snowfall. Of course, as usual, I did stay active swimming, compu-training on my bike, running, and added KETTLEBELL training at TNT Performance. The kettlebell training was the only new variable. I finished the 50K ski event with my fastest time ever by 2 minutes! I believe training with kettlebells will help me to stay strong and endure any/all future adventures, as well.

When I first joined TNT, I did not believe that working out for 45 minutes only two days a week would be enough to get me in shape.
However, after 2 months I started to notice a difference. After 3 months my husband started to notice. And after 5 months I had to go out and buy new jeans because none of my old jeans fit, and everyone started to notice the difference!
Not only is this program fun, but it actually achieves results!
Ryan Toshner is the consummate professional and takes pride in his clientele’s achievements. My sister and I have attended Ryan’s classes since June of 2010, and we have NEVER looked back. I will never return to a regular gym routine. This is IT.

Training with Ryan at TNT has truly been life changing. At 41 I am in the best shape of my life. I would not consider myself to be an athlete, but I have always been active, whether it was biking, running, weightlifting or aerobics. But I never experienced the body transforming results that I do with kettlebell training at TNT.

I’m 36 years old, a full-time working mom of 2, and like everyone else, didn’t think that I had time to make the commitment to my fitness and my health. I have never considered myself an athlete, I was never involved in sports. Ryan has motivated me, supported me, and pushed me to realize that I am an athlete and I can be an even better athlete with his help. I am stronger than I have ever been in my life, I feel better, I look better, and I have no doubt that I am healthier. Now, I’m working out at the studio 4 days a week and at home the other 3.
Ryan isn’t just an instructor, he doesn’t just teach kettlebells; he’s a role model, an advocate, a champion, and a task-master. His classes are challenging and every single day he’s there to bring something new and challenging to the studio!
